Happy New Year to all our followers from the Skiffy & Fanty blog team! Our first inclination may be to run in dread from 2024, but here’s to hoping that it will bring great, exciting things to all in the genre world and the world in general.
We’re very pleased to have been able to get the blog up and running again these last few months after a long hiatus! We’ve managed to regularly post each Monday and Thursday, and plan on continuing this on through the new year. While the podcast takes some much-needed time off before returning in February, the blog will continue intrepidly on. In the last months we brought back reviews of books, movies, and short fiction, several author interviews, as well as some essays and the comical “Book By Its Cover” series. If you’ve enjoyed any of these, please let us know. Beyond continuing these, 2024 should allow us to bring back some other flavors of features too.
As with the podcast, we continue the long-standing Skiffy & Fanty tradition of focusing our coverage primarily on works by or featuring BIPOC, LGBTQIA, and any other marginalized voices. That’s not to say we won’t ever cover anything that doesn’t fit such categories, but they’ll continue to be rare. Most of our focus should remain on recent/upcoming works, but our essays also may delve into works from the past or reviews could dip into the backlist. Because all books and movies should be getting attention, not just the ‘new’ crop.
Thanks goes to all of those who’ve contributed here since resurrection, including Trish, Paul, and Cam. Special extra thanks should go to Trish for not just contributing regular reviews, but also editing, formatting, and scheduling of posts behind the scenes.
Please let us know if there are things in 2024 that you are particularly looking forward to, or if there are any topics or features you’d like to see here on Skiffy & Fanty.
Have a peaceful, safe, and healthy year ahead!
