Announcement: 2023 Guest and Interviews Open Call!

2023 Guest and Author Open Call! Square

2023 is now upon us, and we’re making big plans! That’s right, we’re finally doing another open call for guests and interviewees! It’s been a few years since we did our last one, but we think it’s a good time to get back on that horse and ride it to the finish line (or something like that).

So, with that in mind, here’s our open call!:

Call for Creators for Interviews (Authors, Comics Creators, Filmmakers, and More):

If you’re a creator of science fiction, fantasy, and/or horror media of some kind releasing in 2023, we want to interview you! We’ll have about 12 open slots for the year. We know that’s not a lot, so keep in mind that we’re also looking for guests for our other shows (see below).

What we’re looking for:

  • Any creator of media (book, comic, short story collection, short of long film, TV show, video game, etc.) which could described as science fiction, fantasy, and/or horror OR covers some aspect of those genres (i.e., non-fiction books). Our genre definitions are not restrictive and should be interpreted widely.
  • New or old. Doesn’t matter to us. If you’re releasing your first book, that’s OK! Most of our interviewees have been debut authors. And if you’re a veteran, know that we want to hear from you, too!
  • Creators of all backgrounds are encouraged to reach out to us. That said, we strongly encourage BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, and women to hit us up.

Note: our show has maintained a strong focus on the work of BIPOC. This doesn’t mean we won’t cover other groups; it means we’ll cover more work by and about BIPOC.

If you’re interested in being on the show, you can either have your publicist/publisher reach out to us OR you can reach out to us yourself. All inquiries should go to skiffyandfanty@gmail.com. Please put “S&F Interview: ” at the start of your email subject line so we don’t miss it!

Call for Guests!

We welcome creators and fans to join us for one of our many other shows (and you’ll get to plug your thing!). Throughout the year, we release dozens of shows on SF/F/H film, television, books, comics, and other media. These include:

  • At the Movies (on new or old films)
  • Screen Scouts (on new or old TV shows)
  • Reading Rangers (on new or old SF/F/H books)
  • Torture Cinema (our bad movie comedy review show)
  • Discussions (on various SF/F/H topics)
  • Speculative Dispatch (our discussion-based show for Patreon)

If one of these shows sounds interesting to you, send an email to skiffyandfanty@gmail.com with the subject “S&F Guest: ” and we’ll consider bringing you in! You’re also free to pitch us a topic or media object to discuss!

We will do our best to include as many people as possible, but please be kind to us. We’re one podcast. We can only cover so much!

There you have it. Yell at us!

  1. The last novel of my epic fantasy trilogy, A CURSE OF KRAKENS, will be out Nov. 7. Would love to discuss—the trilogy is told through 22 first-person points of view, which is a first, so far as I know. It will be my 19th novel.
