Announcements and Errata, Awards Season

We’re 2019 Hugo Finalists!!! THANK YOU!

We really don’t know where to start. We’ve known for about two weeks now that was coming, but there was a small part that didn’t believe it. That instead believed it was some terrible hoax. Not that we don’t believe that The Skiffy and Fanty Show isn’t deserving of this, but rather that becoming finalists in 2014 was probably the one and only time it would ever happen. Yay for imposter syndrome!  We have to say, it’s a relief to see the official official announcement and know it is true (though to be amongst such amazing finalists is still bewildering!!) But then we looked at our team and knew immediately that we should never have doubted, because our team is AMAZING and deserves every bit of this nomination:

COMICS REVIEW – Submitted for your consideration: Hugo Recommendations

Welcome to the latest installment of my comics review column here at Skiffy & Fanty! This month, the SFFnal awards season is upon us once again, so I’m going to follow up on a similar post I made last year and recommend some candidates that might otherwise be overlooked that I believe are worthy of your Best Graphic Story Hugo nominations! (These reviews contain spoilers!)

Comics Review – a look at this year’s Hugo nominees

The finalists for this year’s Hugo Awards were announced on March 31, and of course I was particularly interested in the Best Graphic Story category. While none of the works I suggested made it on to the final ballot, I’m very happy with the works that did. There’s a real breadth and diversity of both creators and subject matter that I found deeply heartening to see. So this month, I’m taking a closer look at each of the six nominees: Bitch Planet Volume 2: President Bitch; Black Bolt, Volume 1: Hard Time; Monstress, Volume 2: The Blood; My Favorite Thing is Monsters; Paper Girls, Volume 3; and Saga, Volume 7. (These reviews contain spoilers!)

2018 Awards Season Eligibility: Our Things, Guest Things, All the Things

2017 might not have been the best year for the world, but it was a pretty good year for our little podcast. We added a few new shows, produced a whole lot of great content (thanks to Jen’s diligent work as producer), and brought on a whole lot of new voices. We also got this flashy new website (thanks, Jade!) due to our Patreon supporters being awesome. As we do every year, we like to share all of the awards eligible things created by us, our crew, and our guests. Where relevant, we’ve linked to individual creator’s eligibility posts on their websites. As always, we thank you for taking the time to check out this post and for considering us, our crew, and/or our guests for things in the 2018 awards season (Hugos, Nebulas, and more). Here goes:
