Paul and Jen are joined by one of our frequent victims, Michael J. Martinez, to discuss the 1980 Seven Samurai inspired space-sploitation(TM) film, Battle Beyond the Stars. Honestly, we probably should have known what to expect based on the producer (spoilers), but the sheer inconsistency of the plot and world-building, the offensive tropes, and the completely inane earnestness of the main character still had us scratching our heads and groaning in dismay. BUT AT LEAST WE GOT GEORGE PEPPARD! We hope you enjoy the episode! Jen, Alex, and Paul are joined by the wonderful Keith Manuel to discuss the 1984 post apocalyptic film, Night of the Comet! A film which is really not all that torturous even when you consider it has absolutely no logical consistency to how a killer comet kills everyone on earth… except teenagers who like malls and guns. Also, a baby Chakotay doing sit-ups. Yum. We hope you enjoy the episode! Torture Cinema Poll: August Attack of the 80s!

We realize that you haven’t even heard our July pick, Night of the Comet, yet, but it will be up soon! PROMISE!! What you’ll find when you DO listen to that one though is that sometimes the team gets really lucky and ends up watching something really kind of enjoyable. SO PICK A REAL TORTURE THIS TIME!!! We know! We’ll make it easy! We’ll only pick movies from the official torture list that were made in the 80s. … Oh, gods, what have we done!? … These choices are SO, SO BAD! … save us.

327. Fiend Without a Face (1958) — A Torture Cinema "Adventure"

This month, Trish, Shaun, and David (our resident Canadian horror film professor!) talk about the 1958… ummm… classic? Fiend Without a Face! It’s bad, folks, I mean, it’s really bad… So bad that Shaun ends up defending the Transformers films in response. However, David lays down some horror film factoids and Trish appreciates the stupidity, so make of that what you will. We hope you enjoy the episode! Torture Cinema Poll: June Classics

Even though you probably haven’t even had the pleasure of listening to Shaun’s singing in our Queen of the Damned episode yet, it’s time to pick our torture for June! This time, we’ve decided to force you to torture us with a classic… Ok, so ‘classic’ is probably being too kind to the utter drek that you get to pick from this month. May Cthulhu have mercy on our souls.

325. Queen of the Damned (2002) — A Torture Cinema "Adventure" w/ Megan O'Keefe

This month, we honestly don’t know how to describe the bizarre twists and turns the conversation takes as Megan O’Keefe joins Shaun, Paul, and Jen to discuss the fairly maligned 2002 goth-wet dream, Queen of the Damned. Basically, the only reason to watch this movie is Aaliyah, because Lestat is an anemic, no-chinned creeper. We hope you enjoy the episode!
