  • Ticonderoga (Russell B. Farr) — Jason Fischer’s ‘Everything is a Graveyard’ out now.
  • ClanDestine (Lindy Cameron) — Brings out old works that have gone out of print out of print (like Kerry Greenwood’s Delphic Women novels – her “Medea” is the one Tansy particularly loves) as well as new voices.
  • Rowena Cory Daniells – fantasy writer with Solaris
  • NatCon roving convention for all of Australia
  • Ambelin Kwaymullina (indigenous writer of YA books)
  • Ben Peek has been an indie writer. Black Sheep dealt heavily with racial themes. He has a new fantasy series coming out with Tor this year, the Godless.
  • Karen Healey (NZ author, but has written stuff set in Australia and has lots of complex casts with various diverse elements)
  • Aurealis Awards — premier SF awards in Australia started small and grew. Juried by industry professionals. Judging panel for each category, and categories are very specific (short story and novel in each of SF/Fantay/Horror, etc.)
  • NatCon Associated Awards — Ditmars –community voted awards categories are broader (best novel covers any speculative type of book, for instance)
  • Chandler Award (for outstanding achievement in Australian Speculative Fiction)
  • William Atheling Jr. Award for criticism and/or review, which is for a specific work.
  • Cat Sparks (started with art, became small press publisher, then moved to professional writing)
